Jogli – very cool music search engine manages to deliver value in mega crowded market

Jogli

Just picked up on the public outing of Jogli, a new music search engine from Israel. No wait, come back, it’s actually pretty good. Why? Well it claims to have an index of over 500 million tracks and 12 million albums for a start. And it’s apparently all legal too, culled from legit sources like YouTube.

The interface is also nice and clean, easy to find stuff and I really like the fact that you can locate similar stuff or more by the same artist simply by clicking on album cover artwork in the search results. Neat and very useful way of sampling more tracks from the new fave artist you’ve just discovered.

There’s the usual stuff in place, like My Playlists, Music Libraries et al, and there’s a My Account profile section which probably has some glorious future fate awaiting it apart from just a photo and blurb. All in all, very nice indeed and definitely worth a visit. Oh and CEO David Schwartz insists that they’re not going to get sued, because the sources they use are legal and above board. Which is nice to know isn’t it?

What is the story behind www.jogli.com ? It’s basically fulfilling a personal dream… I wanted to make my dream of going to a web site or a music shop and get all the music I like for free – true. Well – now, it is true! In http://www.jogli.com/ everybody can access half a billion songs and more then 12 million albums for free! I believe that Jogli does to music what Google did to the internet – you want a web site, you go to Google, search for it – and there it is. Well, it’s the same with music now – you go to http://www.jogli.com/ , you search for the music you want – and there it is – just click and play.

  • Jogli made me connect my PC to my stereo, it’s the coolest web application since google… In the sense that it makes you feel limitless in accessing anything musical.

Oh, and I like it being legal; it finally made me check the lyrics of my favorite songs; and gave me special treats of live shows by artists I love.
