Just Reach Out – forget PR agencies, all you need is this tool. Apparently…

We love it when new startups make big bold statements, because it’s so much fun watching them try to live up to them over the subsequent weeks and months. So it is with Just Reach Out, a new online service which apparently believes it can completely replace PR firms with a single Reach Out box.

The idea is you visit the site, enter in the topic of your press approach (e.g. ‘I want to connect with all journalists who have written about cell phones’, that kind of thing) and the service will then help you get in touch with all those journos you select from the results.

What we love most about the site is the fact that you’re expected to pay up to $588 for an annual subscription to a service, without having *the slightest clue* how or what they’re offering to you. That’s right, there’s no in-depth explanation of how they’re guaranteeing the connection, or whether said connection has any guarantee of coverage or anything. Not even the most cavalier PR company is so brazen.

Not only are we supposed to forget PR firms, it appears we’re expected to forget any semblance of common sense or due diligence as well. Wonderful. We’re grabbing some popcorn, because this could get interesting.
