Kernel – the brain implant for a better you

We’ve talked about a future where machines take over all the jobs because, let’s face it, they’re better faster, stronger and we humans can only do so much. What if there was a way to increase what we, as humans, can do? Kernel wants to boost brainpower so that we can avoid a jobless future.

This startup is building a chip that can be inserted into the brain directly to help with processing. Right now the focus is on helping people with neurological damage caused by Alzheimer’s, concussions, or even strokes. If this works, it can give people suffering from those conditions a better quality of life.

In the future, the same sort of technology can be used to supercharge our own brains to keep up with the machines. They hope to find ways to allow the brain to function better for a much longer span of time and improve everyone’s quality of life. A large endeavor to be sure and unlike other cyborg-esque stories we’ve seen, still in the planning stages. Don’t look for your brain chips just yet but check out the website for their plans.
