Kicktraq keeps tabs on all those interesting Kickstarter projects

Love it or hate it, crowdfunding seems here to stay, along with all the controversy as well as applause. Sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo are the major players in the sector, but smaller services such as Quirky, AppsFunder and RocketHub are also adding to the mix. But where do you go to try and keep track of these projects?

Well if you’re interested in finding out about any of the 80,000+ projects in 13 categories specifically on Kickstarter, there’s now a neat site which lets you track and browse to your heart’s content.

Kicktraq is basically an unaffiliated search engine for Kickstarter projects, which not only offers an instant live snapshot status of each project, but also provides top ten chart rankings according to popularity, along with interesting stats such as the likely funding the project will end up with.

In a way it’s rather voyeuristic, watching other people begging in the streets, but it can also be a fun way of tracking a technology you’re interested in, even if you haven’t got the cash to invest yourself. The ‘will-they, won’t-they’ drama for unfunded projects as they approach their appeal time limit can also make for a fun few hours, but again only if you’re not involved financially.

The interface is pleasing and easy to read, there’s lots of information and news attached to each project and it’s a nice way to spend some spare time if you’re interested in this kind of thing. Bookmark for a rainy day.
