Klimatic Base 1 AirWater Machine – self filling water cooler extracts drinking water from the air

Klimaticbase1airwatermachine

This Klimatec Base 1 AirWater Machine is a self-filling water cooler which extracts water from the air, purifies it and serves it up in nice refreshing dollops of goodness. Or something. We’re talking 20 litres every 24 hours, it can be solar powered and you can attach an optional fridge unit for super coldness. Sounds like a pretty neat plan, eh?

The atmosphere holds a lot of moisture which is free for the taking. Airwater uses refrigeration techniques to condense this humidity from air. Air driven by blowers is sucked into the system through an electro static filter. Cooled coils located in the path of air provide a temperature differential between the air and the coil surface resulting in condensation which is funneled into a holding tank which has a level switch controlling the water making cycle. Water is then passed through an active carbon filter to remove solids, oxygenates and to remove any odour. Water is finally passed through a UV light chamber to eliminate any bacterial content. Pure drinking hot and cold water is then supplied through the dispenser.

  • Sounds a little bit like drinking milk, most people like it, as long as they don’t know where it comes from. Even if the water is gone through the active carbon filter, hey, its your sweat ;)

  • Dominik – yeeeuuuw!!! :-)

  • in some circles they would call it a dehumidifier

  • The only problem is that this must extract the water dependent on the humidity factor, meaning that those places that most need to make water out of air, i.e., the desert, will be least able to. On the other hand, these gadgets should produce a ton of water in tropical conditions.

  • Best utilization I would see as putting one of these at every hole of a golf course… those places that do have water in a jug every few holes always seem to be empty anyway. I could see this being a great solution and depending on cost per unit for a solar powered one it should be at every hole.
