One of the greatest things about technology is its ability to help make our lives easier and more accessible and this is no more true than when it comes to helping people with disabilities. Liftware is the utensil innovation that is helping people with disabilities gain control of their own meal times.
The utensils feature two designs that help people feed themselves by compensating for their tremors and issues with gripping and the proper angle. These two innovations help people who have lost their fine motor skills or were never able to develop them due to illness, injury, or otherwise use a fork or spoon on their own.
Although innovations like this are great and could help a lot of people gain some independence in their life, this innovation runs into the same issue that many like it have, the price tag. It is $195 for the initial kit and then $34.95 for each attachment making this an investment for many people. People with disabilities are often on limited or fixed income so something like this may be out of reach. A nice idea and hopefully they find a way to make this more accessible.
