Technology can be isolating but more and more developers are searching for ways to use it to comfort and make people feel more connected. One train of thought is using robots to replace the missing companionship. LOVOT is the robot built to make people feel like someone is there for them.

This isn’t really a person. This robot is more like a pet. It doesn’t have complex communication features but can show a sense of love and attention. It appears please when the owner interacts with it and even shies away from strangers. Sort of like a cat.

It likes to cuddle and will help empty homes feel not so empty. It’s covered with a soft padding so that the owner can freely hug it and hold it close. Currently they’re set to appear on the market early this year. Might be cheaper to just get a cat or dog though.
