The Lux Win100 programmable thermostat is a fantastic idea for anyone wanting to add a thermostat to a window/wall mounted air conditioner. The WIN100 can control your A/C unit (or space heater) by switching it directly on or off depending on the temperature of the air, anywhere from 7�C (45�F) to 32�C (90�F).

The timer features a 5 day + 2 day cycle, so you can have different cycles for weekdays and weekends. It also has user-calibrated temperatures, a manual hold and even separate programmes for heating and cooling. The timer is powered by the mains, but it has space for a pair of G13 button cells for maintaining the clock during blackouts.

The timer needs 120 volts and you must have a fairly basic heater or air conditioner. Specifically the air con needs to be able to switch back to cooling mode after it’s powered off otherwise this won’t work. $US34.62 from Amazon and it’s even rated 5 stars!
