Venerable high tech retailer Marks & Spencer [eh…? Ed] has launched a terribly English pinstripe suit with a full set of iPod controls. That’s right, your stiffy upper lips can now tweak the sounds entering their pinky little lobes just by fiddling with the inside of their lapels. Sounds very Rumpole of the Bailey to us, but what do we know. Rule Britannia and all that…£90.00 for the jacket and £59.00 for the trousers. And remember kiddies, dry clean only!
The £149 Marks & Spencer iPod suit has a ‘smart-fabric’ control pad for the MP3 player sewn into the left lapel, allowing the wearer to adjust the level of sound and to skip through tracks…The pad is attached to a cable that runs beneath the lining and plugs into the iPod, which of course has its own pocket. The lapels even have loops to hold the earphone wires, eliminating the usual cats’ cradle of connections.
