Micromobs is a brilliant idea. Instead of slogging your way through a long disjointed email discussion, just import it into the Micromobs application and convert it into an instant private group conversation a la Google Groups. Complete with threaded conversations and everything.
To make use of the service, all you have to do is create a group chat account online, or forward one of the messages of your current email conversation to [email protected] and the system will do the rest.
What you receive is a beautifully Web 2.0 interface, with all the stuff you need to hold a valuable group discussion such as profile pages, a group email address (e.g. [email protected]), image and link sharing and useful things such as digest reports which compress conversation threads so you don’t have to follow each message individually.
In fact it’s the flexibility of the account settings that make the service so cool, since you can slice and dice the conversations in a whole heap of useful ways. Want notifications when anyone mentions your name? No problem. Want thread update notifications? Easy. Digests? Ditto. The only thing missing is a lack of a file/document upload and archive feature, but it can’t be long in coming.
Overall it’s a great little app, and deserves to succeed, if only to lighten the burden on our over-stretched email inboxes.
micromobs is the best way to share your life privately with the groups you care about the most. It’s the easiest way to start a group discussion. You can start by naming your mob from micromobs.com or forwarding an existing email thread to [email protected]. We’re here to connect you with your groups and save your inbox in the process!
