I haven’t used Internet Explorer in many years. Well, not for anything other than downloading a better browser on a fresh Windows install. Of course those that are less tech-savvy are perfectly happy using the browser that’s given to them, and thus IE still has a very large user base. That’s why I’m always happy to see improvements made to future versions of the browser.

One interesting feature that we should see in IE9 is called Tracking Protection. This will allow users to decide exactly what scripts are allowed to run on a page, and what personal information is gathered by the site visited.� You can even create specific lists of items that you don’t want to load, such as those Facebook �like� buttons that you see on a lot of sites now. Once you set this on a block list, it will stop the button from even loading on any page. How interesting.

I have to give Microsoft a hand on this one. It seems that this could really be a move in the right direction. I wouldn’t mind being able to block everything that automatically plays audio on a website. There’s nothing I dislike more than an advertisement blaring at me while I’m trying to read some bit of news or take in my daily dose of kitten pictures.
