Mielophone is a minimalistic free music player for Windows, Mac and Linux

If we look back to about 15 years ago, there weren’t a lot of ways to listen to music. Yes, there were CDs, cassettes, vinyls, and the radio. However, if you wanted to hear a specific song that you didn’t own, the best you could do was turn on the radio, and try calling into a station to get it aired. Now we can pull up streams on Pandora or Spotify, without needing to pay for them. If you’re not quite satisfied with those offerings, you might check out Mielophone.

This new piece of freeware lets you look up virtually any song, artist or album, and play it almost instantly. It pulls the music from either freely available mp3s, or from various streams across the internet. It might not be the most polished piece of software out there, but it certainly has potential.
