Museum of Endangered Sounds – the technology is outdated but the sound lives on

Museum of Endangered Sounds 1

The world of technology has changed quickly over the past few decades. Services and devices that we once couldn’t live without are now embarrassing relics of the past, collecting dust in landfills or gone completely from the internet landscape. One of the things we’re losing is the sounds. The Museum of Endangered Sounds is cataloging the technology based tones and sounds that are disappearing from the world.

This is a weird little website that will send you back down memory lane. Sure we all joke about the sound of modems but do you remember getting an AIM message? You know you went running to your computer when that little tone went off.

The website has computer noises, TV static, ringtones, etc that you can play in a loop to remind you of an earlier time, a simpler time. If you miss the sound of AOL logging on, this website can remind you. If you have a few minutes and you’re nostalgic for the 80s/90s, chill out to some sounds of your youth.
