How many times have you found yourself mooching around the kitchen, hungry but unable to decide what to eat? Worse still, you know you’ve got lots of ingredients but it’s too much bother to work out what you can make with them all? Well don’t give in and reach for the take-out menu, there’s help at hand.

My Fridge Food is a new site with a simple goal, to help you quickly find a recipe based on the contents of your fridge or kitchen. What’s cool is the fact that you can add ingredients with a single click, no having to laboriously type stuff into boxes.

Got bacon, eggs and milk? Just tick the boxes and press the Search for Recipes button. That’s it. You can also save your ingredients for another day, and there’s a more detailed checklist if you want to include more exotic products in your recipe search.

The recipe results page is also very cool (although we’re not sure about the particularly lurid shade of green with green text, it does make reading things a tad difficult). All the recipes are user submitted, and as well as cooking times and categories, you can sort by very useful things like calories, carbs or groups (e.g. low carb).

There’s even a handy feature which lets you know if you’re missing an ingredient for a particular recipe, so you can then either hide it or add the ingredient manually if you want to make it. The recipes themselves are clearly laid out (apart from that green on green issue again) and there’s space for user comments and also a Related Recipes section included.

It’s all very well done, and with a bit of design expertise thrown in, could be an awesome resource for those who are…well let’s just say culinarily challenged. Bookmarked.
