Nectome – preserve your brain for the future

Downloading your brain onto the net is the stuff of science fiction (there’s a mini-story arc in Transmetropolitan all about it) but it’s not a reality, or at least it wasn’t. Nectome is the company that wants to preserver your brain for the future. There’s just one problem, the process is 100% fatal.

To be clear, right now, the company is a preserve your brain, as it is outfit so that when technology catches up to our fantasies, your mind can be uploaded to the digital world and allow you live again, sort of. The process calls for a very fresh brain though. The special embalming liquids used are administered while the patient is still lives.

Because of this, this interesting option is only available for people with terminal illnesses. As wild as this seems, the company has a waitlist for its services and has even received funding to further their research. It takes about six hours to preserve the brain and costs $10,000. Of course, that’s refundable, if you change your mind.
