No Red October – cutting red meat for the good of the planet

Cutting out red meat is often cited as one of the ways we can help reduce our carbon footprints. Popular Science holds a yearly event called No Red October where they encourage readers to cut out cow. They’ve published a handy guide with some tips for cutting down the beef. Even if you’re not participating, here’s some advice you can incorporate to lower the amount of red meat in your diet.

If you’re not going to eat red meat anymore (or less) you will still need to get your protein from somewhere. Thankfully there are many sources outside of just beef. Things like chicken and fish are both options or you can go full plant with legumes.

The article also suggests spicing it up with some fun recopies and meal planning so you don’t get bored eating canned tuna and chicken fingers everyday. You don’t have to dump red meat altogether but if you want to give it a try, check out this article.
