In a world where so much of your personal information is on the internet, online security is very important. Granted, I’m sure that you might not consider your Twitter account to contain the most personal details (since your tweets are usually able to be seen by anyone), however, you still don’t want anyone to hijack it. Posts under your name could come back to haunt you later as some employers start looking through social networking sites to see what potential employees have said.
You’ve had the ability to sign into Twitter securely for a while, but that’s only if you remember to enter in the secure address. Thankfully the company has decided to make things a little easier by adding a checkbox in your preferences that will force your computer to establish a secure connection whenever you log in. There’s really no reason why anyone shouldn’t go in and check that box.
