Ocean Related Issues Rapidly Rising – sea level events will become yearly by 2050

Major sea level events happen once a century on average but that time is coming to an end as by 2050 we could be seeing these major events once a year unless we curb our reliance on fossil fuels and start turning things around with the climate crisis.

This may not seem like an urgent matter, 2050 sounds really far into the future but it’s not! That’s only 30 years from now. A good chunk of the people reading this and everyone they know will still be alive and we’re all going to be affected by this. Of course the people who live in coastal regions will be hit hardest but even if you’re safely on land, the changes to our planet may be quite drastic and you’re still sure to fill the ripples of them.

Obviously rising sea levels are one concern but the heating water is another. The temperature rise harms sea life and contributes to major storms. Even with changes it may be that some damage we’ve caused in unavoidable. But the time to start acting on this is now.
