Remote controlled helicopters and planes are nothing new. You can find such things in most toy isles, and most don’t have any features to really set them apart from the rest. However, this AR Drone from Parrot is anything but plain and boring. It might look a little strange with its four sets of blades, but this is one of those cases where it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
First, you’re not going to find a remote with this device. Instead, you’ll need to use an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. This opens up a world of possibilities that other flying toys can’t hope to reach. Not only do you use the phone for a remote, but there is a camera on the Drone, and you can see the action from its perspective right on your screen. There are even augmented reality games that you can play with it, along with the ability to dogfight with other AR Drones. The only disappointing feature here is the $299 price tag.
Typical…an OVERPRICED toy that works ONLY with an OVERPRICED phone ;)
