We’re thinking that this is probably the smallest proper electric car in the world (or the whole universe, what do we know?), and if it isn’t we would definitely like to meet the elves who’ve built one smaller. Petrol heads will, of course, recognize the distinctive Peel micro car shape, but instead of a conventional petrol engine, this puppy comes with a full electric drivetrain. Wow-eee.
The car – well more like a gadget than a car, eh? – will do 0 – 62 mph in three weeks, and features a massive 28 mph top speed with 2 people on board. Add a packet of crisps and that drops to less than 20 mph. Still, we’re impressed that they can get even that from the 3 HP motor, which actually comes from a moped.
The vehicle will run like the wind until 15 miles have elapsed, at which point drivers and passengers are advised to vacate and pop it in a rucksack to be carried home. Once there it can be recharged in five hours ready for another shopping trolley experience down the nearest hill.
The fact that has us most awestruck, however, is the price tag, which at $25,000 makes it absolutely the most expensive roller skate we’ve ever reported on. Please queue in an orderly manner.
