Peerflix

Peerflix. Netflix via your peers and not the net. No, hold on. Netflix with the Net, but also the…. No, wait. List the DVDs you own and the ones you want. Others do the same. Then you swap when you want. Or something. And the Peerflix people charge you $0.99c a trade. So there. Happy?

We are a peer-to-peer trading network for DVDs. It’s the new way to get the most out of the DVDs you own by trading those you’ve already watched and no longer want, for others that you’d like to watch… At Peerflix, they can trade in those DVDs for new ones for only $0.99 per trade. There are no subscription fees. We offer a completely risk-free trial and award new users one FREE complimentary DVD when they fully activate their account.

  • Is this legal?

I thought about this a while ago – a kind of swap-shop for DVDs, but figured it wouldn’t be legal from a copyright point of view……

  • Well…if it’s OK to sell your DVD on eBay, then perhaps this is OK too, since you’re not sharing it, copying it or making whoopee with the licence…?

  • Try SwapSimple.com – it’s way better because they way they setup Peerflix, you only get the disc and not the box. That’s annoying. Also SwapSimple.com allows you to interchangably trade DVDs, Textbooks, Regular Books, and Video Games. Pretty cool!

  • I just came across your post and thought you should know about BarterBee.com. Every CD, DVD, and Video Game on the site is $1.00 not including the points you earn. You get points by listing your stuff and having people request it. there is no need for 1to1 matches or anything like that.

    enjoy

  • Mac users should avoid Peerflix. Peerflix worked fine for me for 2 trades. Then my browser was suddenly unable to connect to the website. No explanation, and I can’t seem to find a work-around. It appears that Peerflix is incompatible with MacOS and/or Safari. I keep getting emails from Peerflix, demanding that I send out my DVDs, even though I can’t access the site to manage my account. All emails to them have gone unanswered. I can’t even get to their help or customer service, since they are linked to the inaccessible main page.

  • Thanks for the heads up Grace. Peerflix, you listening?
