Picasa 3 beta – photo storage and organisation done simple.

Picasa 3 beta has just been released by the Google machine and it’s looking pretty darn good. If you’ve never used Picasa then do yourself a favour and give it a try. As well as having a pretty advanced bunch of photo fixing tools, Picasa keeps your entire photo collection at your fingertips by scanning and organising all the photos on your hard drive or network with just a mouse click.

Picasa 3 goes even further with a bunch of few features like a healing brush for fixing up blemishes (ala Photoshop), improved red eye repair, face detection in photos and the ability to put titles on photos. There’s also a standalone photo viewer for viewing images straight out of Windows Explorer. Being a Google product they have also tweaked their online web album offerings and added the ability to synchronise the photos on your machine with the online photos. It’s still in beta at the moment, but I’m sure that won’t last long.

Picasa is free photo management software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the photos on your PC. Picasa automatically locates all your photos (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual folders organised by name, size, or date. You can drag and drop to arrange your folders and make albums to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your photos are always organised.
