Piper – the build it yourself computer that teaches robotics

Hands on is the best way to learn things and the younger you are when you start, the better off you’ll be. Piper is a toolbox that teaches kids to build their own computer and robots to solve problems.

The entire set is a DIY project from start to finish. Your first step is to build your toolbox and connect your Raspberry Pi and monitor to get the whole thing running. As soon as you’ve gotten that up and going, it’s time to enter the open world of Minecraft and set out on your adventure. You have to get your robot on screen to rescue astronauts.

The trick is, in order to do that you have to build the solutions in the real world and that controls the robot in the digital world. Don’t worry, you’re not on your own, the game will give you some help along the way. As you build more, the more you’ll be able to do in game. There’s only a little bit left to go on its Kickstarter but you can get this for $149.
