Pitendo Ultimate- portable games console goes retro Raspberry Pi style

pitendo2

For some people retro gaming is definitely a thing. Not for them those modern consoles with the fancy logos and all that high resolution, gesture sensing nonsense. What’s wrong with some good old fashioned pixelated plink, plink audio gaming like it used to be? When men were men and controllers weighed more than a medium sized garden shed?

Well for those happy folks, here’s the Pitendo Ultimate, retro gaming with a thoroughly modern twist. The device is a Raspberry Pi 2 stuffed inside a nicely portable carrying case, and with a very cool 8 GB SD card stuffed with some clever emulator software and utilities.

The net result is you can install any of the supported ROMs quickly and easily and from then on play all those old Nintendo, Amiga, Atari, Sega, Amstrad, Sinclair or Playstation games that you cherish. Funski! Sure you can do this on your PC or laptop anyway, but we like the hacker/enthusiast feel of this, it just seems neat.

The product also ships with a single SNES controller to get you going, as well as an HDMI cable for hooking up to a television or monitor and a power adapter. So it’s really good to go. The whole thing is priced at $129 with 3 – 4 weeks delivery. Plink, plink indeed…!
