Plastic Compounds Still Pose a Threat – less plastic is really just the way to go

Most people are familiar with the dangers of BPA and even more familiar with all the products being sold that are now BPA free. Which is great! But there are other chemical compounds that also pose a threat and need to be removed from the population. Namely, DEHP.

This compound serves much the same function as BPA as it is added to plastics to make it more flexible. This chemical also messes with cell division and may cause defects in reproductive processes. It was once thought that humans were able to dispose of the compound quickly so no harm, no foul but other later studies show that this may not be the case.

The only real thing we can do to avoid these compounds is not to bring as many plastics into our lives. Which is an overall change we should make for a lot of reasons.
