Plastic is Complex – Reddit thread breaks down sustainable plastics

Biodegradable plastic is a really interesting concept and a future that incorporates such products on a large scale is one that is exciting in a lot of ways. But as we learn more about the issue of plastics when it comes to sustainability, we need to realize that it’s not as easy as just replacing plastics with something else. This interesting Reddit thread outlines some of the hurdles.

Although it is a long thread, it’s well worth reading to get an idea about not only the hurdles for biodegradable plastics but more about plastics themselves. They are not all created equal and we use them for a lot more than you would think!

Although there is some swearing in the thread, over all it is an extremely educational read. If you’ve got a few minutes, check out the link.
