Pocket lets you read, watch, and explore the web when you’ve got time to spare [Freeware]

Pocket Devices

Am I the only one who reads long form articles any more? I suspect not, and I guess also that like me, most people find it difficult to fit in this reading before their lunch break is over. Or I see something I want to read and email it to myself to read when I have the time. So I end up with fifteen emailed links to sort through at the end of the day. Pocket is an app that collects all of the articles that you want to read but just don’t have time for.

Pocket may remind readers of Evernote, which is a great productivity app, but it’s exactly at that point where Pocket breaks away. The point of Pocket isn’t necessarily to be productive. It’s really focused on giving you a space to collect all of those articles you want to read, videos you want to watch, and websites you just want to explore more. It’s a file for saving for later. In fact the app used to be called Read it Later before a name change.

Pocket Highlights

It syncs up with all the devices you have Pocket installed on, so you can view whatever internet gold you’ve found on whatever screen works best for you. Pocket is a free app available for iOS and Android as well as tablets and PCs.

  • I’ve been using Pocket for more than a year now. What I like most about it is that when you read an article saved on Pocket, you end up with only the text and the related images. No ads or menus to distract the reading.

    • Thanks for the feedback. :)
