Prezi – cool online presentation application with zooming

Prezi

Prezi is a new online presentation tool which does away with the boring PowerPoint motif and introduces a fresh, new way to create and use slides. It’s claim to fame revolves around the fact that you can zoom in and out of your presentation area at will, thus making your delivery less linear and more engrossing. At least that’s what I assume.

In practice what some people would call an innovative interface, I just found to be cumbersome and a bit confusing. It’s all very well doing away with convention as long as you replace it with something intuitive, and I’m not sure that Prezi achieves that transition. The zooming is a nice touch, no doubt, but the editing and creation of ‘pages’ is a bit of a mish-mash of keyboard, mouse and ‘guess what happens next-itis’. I wanted to like it, because it’s cute in a Citroen 2CV kinda way. But like the car, I doubt I’d want to do anything serious in it. Like drive.

Take a look at one of the demos on the bottom of the home page, anyway. You never know you may enjoy it.

With the help of Prezi you can create maps of texts, images, videos, PDFs, drawings and present in a nonlinear way. Move beyond the slide, it only takes 5 minutes to learn how to use Prezi.
