3D printing is the tech trend everyone wants to be a part of these days but some people don’t have an extra couple thousands dollars laying around just waiting to be spent. For those of us who would like to add the third dimension to our printing, there’s now a way to do it without breaking the bank.
With the wonder that is 3D printing, people can now print out anything from gears to make an office machine work to a tabletop replica of the TARDIS for the Doctor Who fans in our lives, but the Printrbot 3D Printer does something that most other 3D Printers don’t. It allows us to have a little money left over to take care of trivial things like food and rent.
Depending on how intense your love for this new technology is, Printrbot offers three different assembled printers to fit various needs and budgets. The Printrbot Simple is available for the almost unbelievable price of $399, while the Printrbot Jr. (v2) and the Printrbot PLUS (v2.1) can be yours for $699 and $999, respectively. All three let you handle the basics – transforming digital models into solid three-dimensional objects – but each upgrade comes with additional bells and whistles which will admittedly make the process easier.
If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can even save a little more money by purchasing a Printrbot kit and assembling the printer yourself.
This probably won’t scratch that 3D itch if you prefer your tech toys looking smooth and shiny and futuristic, but it should provide a great intro for those who want to test the waters before reaching any deeper into their bank account.
