Program your Android device to phone home if stolen

Losing your phone can be a devastating event. With so much of our lives wrapped up in one tiny device, you can go through several stages of panic when you realize that it’s not where you left it. First, you’re convinced that you just left it somewhere else, and then it’s safe and sound. Once you’ve decided that it’s nowhere in your possession, you start to worry about all of the private things it holds in its memories, along with the contact information that you’re going to have to replace. Of course, with a little pre-planning, you might just be able to get your phone back, if it’s fallen into someone else’s hands.

There are some great apps that can help you track down your phone via GPS, however, that’s not the only route you can take. If you have an Android phone, you can actually get the phone to ring a specific number. This guide will show you how to use an app called Tasker to dial a number whenever it receives a specific text. While it might not be the most effective way to track down your lost phone, at least you might be able to plead with the new owner of your gadget (or just harass them until they don’t want it anymore).
