Straight from the ‘what on earth’ school of marketing comes a new mobile phone which strips away all smartphone features and yet has a ridiculously high price tag. The Punkt MP01 is a base bare bones phone which sports a 2 inch LCD, 2G GSM calling and texting and a loudspeaker. Oh and a contact address book. Wow! Awesome right?
So we’re not averse to a bit of technology reduction when it counts, but the kicker is they company making this thing are asking a stonking £229 ($347) for the privilege of owning a … um … phone. Oh but look, it’s ‘designer hipster’ cool. Yeah right.
Did no-one tell these people about a place called eBay? Where you can buy perfectly cool Nokia GMS phones for around £10? Or Samsung. Or Acme. Or any number of better value products than this? But hey, if you’re that stupid that you’re going to want to spend this amount of money on this tripe, go knock yourself out. We’ve also got a bridge we’re selling if you’re interested. The Punkt (and you have been) MP01 mobile phone. £229. Includes an ‘I’m a Sucker’ sticker for your lapel.
I thought this just had to be a joke, but nope. The name is hysterical, as it described what has been done to you for purchasing one of these.
