Re-Timer Light Therapy Glasses – new LED glasses reduce jet lag and winter blues after just 30 minutes use a day

Light Therapy is a well established method of helping people who suffer from the winter blues (otherwise known as SAD or seasonal affective disorder). The idea is you sit in front of a bright natural daylight lamp every day to normalize your melatonin and help regulate the mood changes that come from shorter days and less access to sunlight. But now there’s a new product which promises to make it more efficient all round.

Re-Timer Light Therapy Glasses use green LED light instead of white, and replace a static desktop standing lamp with a pair of glasses you wear as you go. The advantages of the latter format is obvious, you’re not limited to having to stand or sit within range of a lamp, which means you can get stuff done while the session goes on.

But there are other benefits too. For instance you don’t need to have the same high intensity light, because it’s closer to your eyes, which means they can make the unit less power hungry. This results in a portable 500 lux set which you can recharge from any standard USB socket. Each charge should deliver up to 4 hours of light therapy, which should keep you going for a few days.

The unit comes in a handy carrying pouch so you can take it on your travels, and the marketing blurb says it’s also suitable for helping get over jet lag, and the sleep issues that can come from sustained long distance travel. The glasses are available for £149.95 or $299 direct from the manufacturers.
