Relive the Last of the 00’s, Musically – Internet Archive saves a portion of the lost MySpace music

A few weeks ago it was announced that MySpace (which still exists) had lost around 12 years worth of music that had been uploaded to the site. This was a major bummer to a lot of people, bands and fans alike who viewed it as a sort of archive. Good news, the actual Internet Archive saved some of the music and you can search and listen to it!

MySpace tried to revamp itself as a music social service some time ago and even before that, many small bands used the platform to connect with fans and build their base. There are likely many songs there that do not exist in many other places. The loss of the files was a major blow.

The Internet Archive managed to save them through use of a unknown method and now they’re free for whoever downloads them. They couldn’t save them all but they grabbed files that were uploaded over the two year span of 08-10. You can check out what they saved, all online. And while you’re there, check out the other offerings of the site.
