Riverboarding – sea-less surfing says eat gravel, chump

Riverboarding

Riverboarding involves a flat plank of wood, a very long bungee cord, a river and some crazy hazy mind mash. Stretch bungee to full extent, step on board, and fly up river at up to 30mph. Look ma, I’m surfing with no ocean. Perfect for land locked Darwin Award hopefuls everywhere. $449.00. [video]

Hook up the bungee cord to a tree or rock, jump on the riverboard that is attached to the same bungee cord, let the river drag you down stream, when the cord is extended, the board releases and shoots you up stream up to 30 MPH!! Rinse and repeat… The bungee systems from Banshee are unlike anything on the river! Each bungee will stretch 200 feet in the current producing up-river speeds as high as 30 MPH!

  • i remember having fun "riverboarding" when i was a child. only we were using a plain door, and a tow rope tied to a nearby tree. i just wonder why this set is sold at 450 usd? don't they have… doors , and… tow ropes anymore?

    • Progress, dear Fritz, is an expensive hobby. :)

  • Fritz – This is so much different than what you did as a kid. Did you see the video?

  • Sounds like Bungy surfing to me, not river boarding. River boarding involves a body board or similar purpose designed board being riden head first down white water and has been around for over 30 years, well before bungy cords were even invented.
