Rockefeller Smart Bike – designed for Android, iOS and your healthy heart

Yeah sure, it looks like a normal bicycle. It’s got those round wheel things, a steering doo-hickey and some pedals, but don’t be deceived. This is a genuine, all encompassing, mighty marvelous ‘smart‘ bike. No wait, come back. The Rockefeller JW650 Smart Bike is intelligent, conscious and intends one day to enter the Tour de France and ‘do well’.

At least that’s what we think it said in the interview. Anyhoo, the bike is designed to integrate with your smartphone, which basically means you get all those computer type functions, such as exercise data, calories etc, but also some novel things you probably haven’t seen before.

For example it has a route sharing feature, which lets you share your cycling route with friends and family, so you can all meet up and have a nice chat, instead of getting to work or whatever. You can also use the app to set reminders, do some GPS navigation stuff, and also take advantage of weather satellites (which is very useful on a bike, right?).

We’re not so sure what the purpose of the onboard computer screen thing is, although we notice that it syncs with your phone via Bluetooth, so clearly it’s there to pass data. It would seem more logical to have all the computing done on the bike, rather than the app, but what do we know? Anyway the whole thing can be yours for the very reasonable sum of $699 (with free shipping). Oh and it needs two AAA batteries, so don’t forget.
