Yep, the Salt Lamp is a lamp, made of salt, well a lamp inside a block of Himalayan rock salt and mounted on a wooden base. Why? Well the blurb goes on about things like negative ions, waterfalls, relief from sinus and rejuvenation. I just think it looks cool. Just don’t get it wet cos you know, salt + water + mains electricity doesn’t equal fun in my books. Oh and cows, remember to keep it away from cows. US$29.98.
You know that invigorating, wonderful freshness you feel when you’re near a waterfall or ocean? That’s attributed to the purifying, negative ions in the atmosphere. Now bring that feeling to your home with our tabletop Salt Crystal Lamp.

okay, that is old news ;)
still a nice one.
oh, and for you nice oceanic feels and odors you will actually NEED some water..
How does it emit negative ions? I've seen negative ion devices before but they usually imply complicated electronic parts. I wonder if the salt emits it though I don't see how.
From the blurb it seems to suggest that by heating the salt, negative ions emanate.
