Save Your Local Park – green spaces do a lot of good for people and the environment

Your local park is important and as the climate warms up, you should fight to keep it. Green spaces are crucial, especially in urban environments, in the fight against climate change. They have a ton of social and health benefits for people but they also have some pretty good benefits for the planet.

For one, they help to absorb CO2 and for another, their shade can really help bring down the temperature in the neighborhood. Which not only makes everyone more comfortable but might save on some AC usage.

Trees also help stave off major flooding which is starting to be a real problem for some parts of the world. Local parks and green spaces often get the short end of the stick when it comes to budget but they do so much more than just give you a place to walk your dog. Fighting for them is a small but actionable step to take in combating climate change.
