Electric cars are becoming more and more popular and even if you can’t afford one, you at least know about them. Although they are better for the environment than our current gas guzzlers, they could be even less harmful. The Sion is an electric car that runs completely on solar power.

This car is a compact vehicle and is really perfect for motoring around an urban environment or quick jaunts into nature. It is covered with solar panels and can charge even on cloudy days. Although you can drive this thing across country (I’m talking about my country, the US with its purple mountains majesty that spans from sea to shining sea) it might take you a bit because these cars only go up to 250 KM at a time.

You can also use the energy to run your own devices (power tools, camping gear, mobile labs) so it acts as a self-charging mobile battery. It is currently being crowdfunded but has met its goals, if you’re interested in one, prices are under €16.000 and the perks are just down payments, not for the full price.
