Seeing The Invisible Effects of Plastic – new equation will help determine scope of pollution

Plastic pollution is a big problem but how large of one isn’t really known. Just that it’s. . . big. New research has given scientists a way to start analyzing the size of the issue so that we can get a better handle on what types of waste are doing the most harm.

Plastic pollution has a number of ill effects on the environment but our knowledge isn’t as robust as it should be, especially when talking about specific species. The new equation would allow scientists to pin point what types of plastics are dangerous to different types of wildlife.

This will allow scientists to get a better handle on the scope of the problem and then hopefully craft better regulations and plans for dealing with plastic waste so that it does not end up in the oceans of the world.
