Self Adjusting Reading Glasses let you control your vision with a twist

The older you get, the harder it is to see clearly. For instance many older people can’t see that politicians tend to enjoy lining their own pockets at every opportunity. As you get older you also fail to see how odd it is to fear flying, since it’s clearly the safest form of transport ever made. Physical vision is also a problem, because your eyes refuse to switch focus like they used to, and you’re left having to buy sixteen pairs of glasses to cope with varying visual demands.

Now we’re not going to say definitively that these Self Adjusting Reading Glasses are the answer to the latter problem, but they certainly present an intriguing option. The glasses work by using ‘SlideLens‘ technology, in which two lenses slide across each other to alter the focal range. You tweak the focus by twirling the knob on the side of each lens, until you get the optimum vision for your task.

The lenses are plastic, UV resistant and the twin lenses can be hinged apart for cleaning. Diopter strengths range from 0 to 4.5x, which should be enough for most eyes, and of course you can adjust each eye separately. Priced at $39.95.
