Shidhulai Swanirvar Sangstha – this nonprofit is building boat schools in the age of climate change

Climate change is happening now. Extreme weather, loss of land, etc. This has made it difficult for some people in parts of the world already. In particular, children in Bangladesh are having trouble making it to school due to flooding. Shidhulai Swanirvar Sangstha is a nonprofit that builds schools on boats so children can continue to learn.

These boats are solar powered and operate year around providing education for children who live in communities along and near the riverbank. Each boat school is equipped with books, computers with internet and even health clinics.

Though this initiative does not do anything to solve climate change, it is doing wonders to help people who are affected by it right now. Because of this fleet of boats, which aren’t much to look at, children and adults are getting necessary education to help them in our changing world. Check out the website to learn more about this nonprofit organization.
