Silent Partner – the device that promises to solve your snoring problems

Silent Partner in ise

Why is snoring so jarring? If you have to sleep near someone who sounds like they’re sawing logs all night, then you’re aware of the issue. The Silent Partner is a new gadget to help with late night loggers. It won’t stop the problem; it just makes it so you can’t hear it.

This device takes a different approach to the snoring problem. Instead of trying to keep the sleeper from snoring, it just blocks the sound. This smart device attaches to the snore-asuarus’ nose and emits a noise cancellation field. Basically it picks up the frequency of the snore and sends out a counter sound to cancel it out.

Since people snore for all sorts of reasons, there’s no real one size fits all solution to stop it. But treating the noise itself should work for everyone. The device attaches to the nose of the person who is snoring and their partner should be saved from the sound, even on the pillow next to them. It is being crowdfunded on Indiegogo but has met its goal. You can get your own for $107 but they don’t ship until November.

  • I’d love to see this work, and noise cancelling technology can work well at the point of reception (the ears), but I don’t see how they can effectively cancel sounds at the source using the same principle. How would they ensure that those generated ‘cancelling’ wavelengths are 180 out of phase to the snoring sounds at the point of reception?

    • Well theoretically I guess it sounds possible, but at a scale strong enough to cancel out the noise at close range? Hmm….

    • I do WANT it to work, but without a coherent explanation of the science/technology behind how they will accomplish the feat, it’s just fantasy-ware.

That said, if they do accomplish this, I’ll be pleased to order at full retail – but after they demonstrate that it will actually work, not before they build one.

  • And you end up still not sleeping because you’re too busy laughing at how ridiculous your partner looks

    • That’s a real danger when using this device lol!
