Sketchcast – broadcast your art and yourself

sketchcast logo

Once upon a time people sketched ideas on anything that came to hand – chalkboards, smooth dirt, napkins or the perennial favourite, the backs of coasters. Nowadays, we not only want to share our works of genius with more than just our boozy friends – we want to share the whole creative process, and we want to share it all with the world.

Sketchcast is an online drawing and recording website all accessible via your browser. You can easily record a sketch (with or without audio) including all your rethinks, erasures, additions, and colour changes. When you’re done share the result from your dedicated Sketchcast channel.

While it’s touted as a Web 2.0 collaborative tool for personal and business use, I doubt many businesses will use it unless they could set up private sharing – at the moment all your sketches are public all the time. Still, for those times when you’re an improv genius with a computer (but no coasters) handy, this may be useful. Free to register. May also be handy on an iPhone.

Sketchcasting is a new way to communicate something online by recording a sketch, optionally with your voice speaking. Any sketch can then be embedded on your blog/ homepage for people to play-back, and you can also point people to your sketchcast channel here (or let them subscribe to your sketchcast RSS feed).
