The Smoking Spaceman Tin Robot is awesome. 30 cm tall, menacingly black, with flashing lights and all that fabulous retro 1950’s shuffle, smoke, sway loveliness that makes you pine for the age of the radiogram and Forbidden Planet. And he’s made of tin? Bliss. £39.95.
This battery-operated tin robot is a masterful creation that was first manufactured in Japan in the 1950s. When set in motion, this huge menacing-looking black and red robot strides along noisily with arms swaying, with eyes and pistons on it’s head flashing. Every few paces he stops, pauses, and puffs smoke from his mouth before resuming his rambling. The unsophisticated design adds to its robot image, while the facial expression has a human quality. Makes an impressive toy gift or collectors item.
