Sprinkle Dress – The wearable garden

Sprinkle Dress

We’ve heard of wearable art, but a walking garden is a bit of a stretch. Designer Linda Schailon has created a garden fashionista’s delight – The Sprinkle Dress. Complete with integrated living plants, this unique fashion statement must be awkward to wear, much less move around in. It’s definitely meant to be eco-friendly, with the skirt draped by garden-wires that support planters that grow real plants in discarded yogurt containers.

The designer created this from her childhood fantasy of a pretty dress adorned with “hedges of hawthorn adorned with jewels” and “caressing the grass under the hot sun.” So must you carry a watering can when you wear it? And, the real question, how do you sit down in it? Umm, maybe not.

When I was just a little girl I dreamed of being a princess at the court of sun king and taking long walks between the hedges of hawthorn, adorned with jewels, with a full skirt and embroidered corset.
