Streak Email Tracking – Your email is watching you

Streak Email Tracking

Do you ever wonder if your emails are actually being read? Ever get curious about where your emails are being read? Now you can get all NSA with people, finding out when and where they read those important – or not so important – messages from you.

Streak Email Tracking is a sneaky little browser extension for Chrome that laughs at those worried about privacy. It lets you find out exactly when someone has read your email, and it even lets you schedule outgoing emails to make sure recipients get your messages exactly when you want them too.

Those are some handy little tricks, but Streak becomes a sneak by also letting you know where your email opened. Is that information really important? We’re sure employers will be all over this feature, acting concerned and sending little ‘Get Well’ emails when you call in sick, only to make sure you’re not kicking back at the beach when you check your email and read the message.

Recipients don’t need Streak on their browser for it to work for you, and they won’t be notified that you’re able to get all sorts of information just by clicking on their message.

The extension is primarily for professionals that manage customers on a daily basis, but there’s no rule saying it can’t be downloaded for personal use, and you don’t need to worry about spending big bucks because Streak is free while it’s in Beta. According to their website, there will always be a free version of Streak available, even after premium packages are offered, because finances should never be able to stop you from spying on people.

  • Very interesting – and scary!
What I would really like to know is how I can protect myself from this snooping.

    • From what I’ve read about this, it doesn’t matter what type of e-mail account the addressee uses. The sender has gmail and streak and can see when and where the e-mails are opened.
