A little while back we showed you a plain black, smartphone shaped box to help you break your smartphone addiction. Klemens Schillinger took it one step further with the Substitute Phone, the fake smart phone with swiping capabilities.

This is like a themed fidget toy. It has stone beads inside of a smartphone like shell. When you’re bored and feel compelled to look at your phone, you can just slide the beads on this to get that tactile input and hopefully stave off picking up the phone. There are no digital features but as your thumb moves across the “screen” you hopefully are getting the sensation that you’re doing something.

This also looks like it would just feel nice. A little stone massage for your thumbs. Too bad this isn’t on the market because I know so many people who would be into it. Still, check out this weird concept, it could be really useful for some.
