Super Monster Wolf – this robot may look scary but it’s trying to help

Before we understood natural food systems and cycles of life, humans made some really terrible hunting choices. Like killing all the wolves in an area which causes lack of natural predators and overpopulation of animals like deer which then eat the crops. Japan is trying to save their crops from such issues with the Super Monster Wolf, the animatronic . . . wolf.

This has a silly name and it looks bizarre but I swear this isn’t a Halloween decoration! The cartoon nightmare looking robot is meant to be placed outside and acts like a modern scarecrow. It makes 18 different sounds which include growling, human speech, and even gun shots. The idea is that this will scare away boars and deer that come and eat the crops at night.

It’s not a terrible idea and seems to be working, for now. Some people are afraid that animals will start to realize that the wolf is harmless. His bark is definitely worse than his bite, which is nonexistent, and come back to the feilds. Each wolf costs $4.814 and is set to be available for purchase in September of this year.
