In case you didn’t realize, coal is bad for the environment. Burning it as a fuel source causes a ton of emissions. Mining it isn’t great either as it causes life long health problems for the people who do. There’s a glimmer of good news though, for the first time in decades, there’s been a drop in coal based electricity production. Yay!

Good news for Britain! They’ve just done their first week without coal power since 1882! Wow! That’s amazing! Good job! The plants still play a part as a backup option but with more renewable energy options, the need for them will be less and less.

Most people are aware that burning coal for energy isn’t a great look and are actively against it because, well, everyone likes breathing clean air. Clean air a major reason to move away from coal but if you weren’t convinced, turns out coal is pretty terrible across the board.
