What most people don’t realize is that we ship most of our waste to other countries to be processed but unfortunately for us, those countries aren’t taking our trash anymore and we aren’t very good at making sure that our garbage is sorted properly which keeps it from getting recycled. Where do our recyclables go – after China becomes more strict, we need to question this more

One of our biggest problems is trash and now with China refusing most of our recyclables, this problem is coming home to roost with disastrous consequences. Instead of being recycled, most things that can be are actually ending up in landfills and at incinerators which means, we need to be way more aware of what we are throwing out and how to reduce that.

NYC Canners – these people are responsible for such high recycling numbers in the city

When we think of people who collect cans, well we probably don’t think much of them. Most people are aware that the cans can be exchanged for money but many people don’t bother. Still, the people who collect up these cans are doing a good bit to help the amount of recyclables that actually get turned in proving that a little bit of incentive goes a long way.

Ever been walking down the street and just step on some gum that someone spit out and left there? Probably because people are gross and thoughtless. In Amsterdam people have this problem as well but one company wants to turn all that thrown out gum into sneakers. Gumshoe is the first sneaker partially made from recycled gum.

Adidas x Wanderlust – check out these clothes made from recycled plastic

Plastic is everywhere and it’s not going away because it takes a really long time to break down in landfills. In the meantime, it’s just sort of polluting everything and killing the environment. Which is not great. Adidas and Wanderlust have made an entire collection of fitness clothes made from recycled materials to help draw attention to the problem and how we can help solve it.
